4 ways to ensure your product has mass appeal

How do you make sure that there is a demand for your product and that you sustain it?

Marketing your product and making sure that you attract customers are two of the most vital things a business should focus on. Walter Pike, a marketing consultant and teacher, offers the following advice on how to make sure that your product or services has mass appeal in order to generate income.

1. Understand your market – then appeal to them
The first step is to do your research. You need to know who your market is, what they like and what their spending behaviour is like. You can outsource this service if you don’t know where to begin. You need to investigate the current products or services offered to your intended market. You also need to find out which products are being used by the market and why.

2. Understand what makes your product unique – then sell it
The selling price should not be the only factor that will make your product or service appeal to the market – your product should be unique. See if there are ways you can improve your products and services to make it better and more unique. Make sure your product is unique, so that people talk about it and generate hype. Nothing beats word of mouth.

3. Deliver on what you promise
It’s all well and good to have a unique product that will appeal to the market, but you need to make sure that you deliver on what you promise – every time. Rather under-promise and over-deliver than promise something you can’t execute. Not delivering on your promise swill ruin your credibility.

4. Focus on retaining customers
In the early stages, focus on retaining your current customers and make sure they come. Slowly build your client base and remember, getting new customers takes time and patience.
