Summer style equals casual style. The problem is most guys run the risk of taking the notion of easy-going a bit too far. This is because we often pack away anything that looks remotely heavy. Whether it’s a shirt or trousers, when the warmer weather arrives, we understandably swap these out for cool, light separates such as T-shirts, vests and shorts.
If you don’t pay attention to how you dress, casual items such as these can give you a sloppy look – but not if you swap out your tees and vests for an equally cool golf shirt, easily the most versatile item in your closet (not too far behind the white shirt).
Here are three looks you can pull off with one golf shirt.
It’s appropriate that the golf shirt be worn in an athleisure style because the tennis court is the first place that the shirt appeared. It has an athletic feel and looks really good when paired with a light bomber and a well-fitting jogger on cooler summer days.
With a suit
Golf shirts are a great substitute for standard shirts when wearing a suit. They work especially well for dressing down your suit. If you want to be taken seriously but not come across as uptight, this is the look to go for.
If you’re not feeling the suit but don’t want to be too casual, the golf shirt is your go-to item. To add some interest to the look, opt for a patterned or striped golf shirt rather than a plain one. Wear it with a pair of well-fitting chinos or selvedge denims and dress shoes, and you’re good to go.
