Lebogang Manyama wins big at the PSL Awards

Cape Town City striker Lebogang Manyama topped off a spectacular season by walking away with three Premier Soccer League (PSL) awards at a star-studded gala dinner on Monday night

Manyama took home top honours in three of the four categories he was nominated for at the PSL Awards, bagging the Footballer of the Season, Top Goal-scorer and Player’s Player of the Season gongs.

His victory has come as no surprise to fans or the player himself, who recently expressed confidence in his ability to clinch the coveted titles.

‘‘I have to be confident that I will win the award, but at the same time I have to be humble and also respect the two other gentlemen, (Thulani Hlatshwayo  and Hlompho Kekana, [in the running for the PSL Footballer of the Season award]” Manama was quoted saying in a TimesLive report last week.

Bidvest Wits also cleaned up at the awards, with the league champions’ coach Gavin Hunt crowned Coach of the Season, while goalkeeper Darren Keet was recognised as the best shot-stopper in the PSL.

The Clever Boys’ Thulani Hlatshwayo took home the Best Defender award, while Phakamani Mahlambi walked away with the Young Player of the Season and Daine Klate received the MTN8 Last Man Standing award.
