With a built-in on device artificial intelligence (AI) system powered by the Kirin 970 chipset, the Mate 10 series takes intelligence to the next level.
The AI technology means it will over time be able to anticipate your behaviour.
“As we enter the age of intelligence, AI is no longer a virtual concept but something that intertwines with our daily life. AI can enhance user experience, provide valuable services and improve product performance,” says Likun Zhao, GM, Huawei Consumer Business Group SA.
“The Huawei Mate 10 Series introduces the first mobile AI-specific Neural Network Processing Unit (NPU), launching a new era of intelligent smartphones. For the South African market, we are bringing in our two most premium phones in this exclusive series – namely, the Huawei Mate 10 Pro and the Porsche Design Huawei Mate 10 – as we believe these are the best phones to meet the mobile needs of South African consumers, especially when it comes to business.”
Despite its hefty price tags at R17 999 and R26 999 for the ultra-stylish Porsche Design version, we have a feeling that the tech giant’s market share – which has grown by 23% in SA this year alone – will climb even higher with its latest devices.
Here’s five reasons why we love the new Mate 10 Pro:
Longer-lasting, safe battery and super-fast charging
Having improved battery life by 30%, the Mate 10 series is fitted with a 4000mAh battery with a super-charge adaptor that enables you to charge a flat battery to 58% in half an hour. Its AI-powered battery management system will also monitor which apps you’re using to optimise the phone’s battery life.
The battery and its super-charge functionality has undergone intensive safety testing and has been certified by safety standards authority TUVRheinland.
South Africa’s LTE network may now allow quick downloads, but the Mate 10 has the capacity to download an incredible 1,2GB of data per second. It also comes with dual 4G sim card support and dual VoLTE.
Huawei’s partnership with camera technology specialists Leica has produced a phone that even professional photographers find impressive.
The Mate 10 series is equipped with a dual-lens camera (20MP and 12MP with a 1,6 optical image stabilisation) which is able to identify scenes and objects like food, sunsets and nightscapes and automatically adjust colour, contrast, brightness and exposure to enhance the vibrancy and sharpness of images.
Whether you’re travelling for business or to fulfil your wanderlust yearning, you’ll love the language translation function.
Produced in partnership with Microsoft, the fully neural on-device translator app works without having to be connected to the Internet and enables translation either via voice, text or imaging (a menu written in another language for instance) in 50 languages.
Gaming enthusiasts will love the PC mode function that enables users to transform their phone into a gaming console by connecting an HDMI cable from your phone to your smart TV.
A wireless mouse and keyboard can also be connected to the device.
