Founder and President of Native Rhythms, Sipho Sithole, chats to us about his music entertainment company.

What was the reason behind the formation of Native Rhythms?
Passion, nothing else but passion for the preservation and promotion of our music heritage and artistic expressions.

How have you been able to maintain longevity with the declining sales in the music industry?
Native Rhythms Productions is an integrated entertainment company that does not only rely on album sales, but our income stream is derived from a wide range of activities, including artist management, music production, concerts and events management.

How have you been able to keep the vision for the brand of the company viable for all these years?
Staying true to ourselves and believing in the authenticity of our work, which finds itself in our native roots, has made our vision stand the test of time.

You are currently successful in project management, events planning and production. What is the key to hosting a successful event?
Planning and delivering to our clients and customers is the key to a hosting a successful event. But more important is that those who attend our events must leave with a memorable “wow” experience.

What projects are the company currently busy with?
The Gospel in Me Concert, a concert that showcases the sacred side of SA’s leading singers (pop, Afro-soul, jazz, R&B singers), who, despite their church background, chose not to pursue gospel as a music career and genre. These performers perform their favourite gospel songs (local and international hits).

What tips would you offer people looking to have successful careers in the business side of the music industry?
Get into this industry for passion first and money will follow if you’re lucky, but more importantly, respect the people you do business with – clients and artists.
