Funky T-shirts should attract and not offend the ladies... here's how to get the look right.
We live in an era where most men wear T-shirts, so it's important to liven up a staple T with interesting graphics and catchy or sometimes funny slogans.
But there is a difference between funny and offensive, as the buyers at the Foschini Group learned the hard way. According to a report in the Cape Times on 26 October, the clothing company had to remove three T-shirts which were deemed sexist.
The Foschini Group's Communications Manager Kathryn Sakalis told the newspaper that the slogan T-shirts were supposed to be tongue in cheek, but some customers complained, saying they were offensive to women. It also caused a frenzy on social networking site Twitter.
The men's T-shirts, which were being sold in Markham and Sports Scene shops, had slogans such as “how to get laid” and “I put the STD in STUD, all I need is U”.
