It's one of the year's most sophisticated events. Hosted by royalty, this do is definitely the place to mingle with high-profile guests.

Hosted by the Queen Mother of the Royal Bafokeng Nation, Dr Semane Bonolo Molotlegi, the Queen Mother's Charity Polo Cup will take place at the five-star Royal Marang resort in Phokeng.

Polo matches

Two teams featuring SA's best players will compete for the winner's title in a polo match. Guests at the event will be able to watch the match while sipping on champagne and dining on a delicious buffet. In addition, networking will be the order of the day, as high-profile guests will include the entertainment industry's top brass, celebrities, politicians and sports stars.

"In a similar way to how Twenty20 has changed the image of cricket, the Queen Mother’s Charity Polo Cup has adapted the traditional rules of polo to create a high-octane, fast- moving and dynamic sport which attracts spectators and the media alike," says Dr Molotlegi.

Charity

Although this event is set to impress with its star-studded guestlist, stunning venue and high-class entertainment, it aims to promote three charities. These are:

  • Thuto Thebe Educational Fund, which is dedicated to addressing the needs of learners, their parents and educators in the quest for quality learning and teaching.
  • Girl Guides Association of South Africa, which aims to actively develop the full potential of all girls and women through voluntary small group participation and outdoor activities.
  • Cancer Association Rustenburg, which provides support to patients suffering from cancer.
