The Mercedes-Benz C-class will forever be a favourite when it comes to a compact executive sedan.
Typical for Mercedes-Benz, the C-class has been nipped and tucked in all the right places. It forms a thoroughly impressive package from the front all the way to the back, eye-catching in every way. With a long list of optional extras available at additional charge, you can custom build it to suit your unique personality and stand out from the rest.
True to Mercedes-Benz performance, The C 250 BlueEFFICIENCY has enough power to accelerate from stand still to 100km/h in just 7,2 seconds and the top speed is estimated at 240km/h. The C 250 model only comes in automatic version, that includes cruise control for all those long distance trips you will be taking over the weekend.
The C-class has a high degree of safety features, as can be expected. There are warning buzzers for almost everything in the car. One safety feature I was impressed with is the Active Blind Spot assist, even though it took time getting used to this feature, as I always check my blind spot. The car warns you of vehicles or objects in your blind spot when you are about to turn.
Other safety features include:
Adaptive Highbeam Assist – A cool feature that automatically adjust the lights to the condition of the road.
Active Lane Keeping Assist – Another super feature when it comes to safety. The system warms you when you start to move out of the lane you are driving in.
Comfort and entertainment
You will want to live in this vehicle 24/7. Comfort and entertainment features include: telephone connection (you can connect to the telephone system via Bluetooth), a navigation system that is voice-operated, a radio with six discs controlled on centre console and a multifunction 4-spoke steering wheel in nappa leather.
As you’d expect with any Benz, the list of optional extras features in the C-Class is long: from reversing camera, parktronic (that helps you park) to heated front seats as well as keyless entry and start.
All passengers have enough head and leg room, the boot is decent and it can accommodate big pieces of luggage.
The C-Class comes standard with MobiloDrive 120 maintenance plan, which consist of a six years/1 200km maintenance plan and vehicle warranty.
C 250 BlueEFFICIENCY will set you back R469 000. I can’t wait for BMW SA to launch its much anticipated 3 series model next year and compare the two compact executive cars.
