Tom cruises to top spot on Forbes richest actors list.
Few actors can boast having starred in several mega-million dollar grossing blockbuster films. Tom Cruise can, as his star power has earned him the title of the highest paid actor in Hollywood, according to Forbes.
Cruise was named the wealthiest actor on his 50th birthday. The Mission Impossible actor collected a total of R609 million in earnings over an annual period. Cruise is one of only a handful of actors who have over 10 films that have amassed over R800 million each.
The star is currently in Ireland filming a new movie and has another film set for release towards the end of the year. Of Cruise’s movie prowess, Paramount Pictures released a statement saying Cruise was on top of his game.
"Tom is a huge movie star for the right reason, he's a very talented actor whose movies have entertained millions of fans. His ability to make a great movie, as we saw with the most recent instalment in the Mission: Impossible franchise — the most successful of the series to date — is the thing that moviegoers remember above all else,” said the film studio to the Hollywood Reporter.
Although Cruise is financially stable, his love life is currently in shambles as his wife, Katie Holmes, filed divorce papers against him. It has also been reported that Holmes is seeking sole custody of their only daughter, Suri Cruise.
The couple’s five-year marriage has been under the spotlight since the two met in 2005. However, the divorce apparently came as a shock to Cruise who recently told a tabloid he was still head over heels in love with Holmes. However, Cruise may have little to worry about financially, as Holmes signed a pre-nuptial agreement awarding her less then R163 million.
