The urban dictionary contains some interesting definitions of politics. Here are a few examples;

Poli: Many
Tic(k)s: Bloodsucking creatures.
Poli + Ticks = Many bloodsucking creatures.

Politics: The one and only place on earth where "My Esteemed Colleague" means "This Prick Here."

Politics: The ability to spoon-feed the masses bullshit and make them think they are eating sugar, no matter what side you are on.

The other translations are exceedingly vulgar but, with good grace available (on the Internet) to those willing to explore extra definitions of the natives we love to abhorr but do not mind queuing to vote for every five years.

That brings me to the leadership crisis within the ruling party. Yes, today, we call it the ANC and tomorrow… the opposition party. To be honest, there is a predicament at Luthuli House and it cannot be settled at an ANC summit, conference, strategy retreat or whatever term Jackson Mthembu coins when he is under the influence of Jack’s finest. The ANC has a president who agrees with everyone. On everything nogal!. Dear South Africa, our president is completely indecisive and I suggest that you run to the hills. I’m joking. This is our country and we can vote him out of office neh? Yebo!  The vice president is an excellent purveyor of snake oil medicine. The secretary general has been reduced to an office administrator. Recall that this is the same powerful individual who ‘recalled’ Thabo Mbeki live on air.

Then there is the SACP chap (they him “Blade” in the daytime) who has since transformed into an avowed capitalist and his counterpart from COSATU who was sanctioned to order after openly railroading the president and his merry men for their irresponsibility and lack of moral direction.

But the big question remains; why are these fully grown men not willing to muzzle mister Julius Malema? Are they too busy feeding at the trough to notice the damage that this semi-literate village bumpkin is doing to the country? Many have opined that Malema has ‘something’ on all of them and it is the fear of this information being publicised that makes them quiet. I beg to differ. The ANC has lost it's rudder and is completely devoid of individuals with credible leadership credentials to steer clear of julius Malema's toilet cleaner antics. Period.

What we see at present is a triumphant correctness attitude within the echelons of the ANC when there is irrefutable evidence of complete lack of headship and direction.

The ANC today is a microcosm of what is going on in Somalia. Yes, I said it and you can take it to the money lenders. Everyman for himself. The corollary is that in the midst of this mayhem, all and sundry, including those tenuously interested in events pertaining to the feeding trough become collateral damage. Food for the ants, termites and maggots.

How the ANC completely fails to comprehend that the overwhelming public resentment towards Julius Malema traverses racial boundaries is another mystery. Unfortunately, their president so out of touch with reality that many would rather another kid scandal (with a close buddy) than observe Julius Malema presented to the nation as the initiator of ‘youthful exuberance’. We used to joke about Thabo Mbeki burying his head in a bucket of sand but this new clique seems to be completely deficient of rational thought, introspection and integrity.

What the ANC seems to put out of their mind is that in two year’s time, the country will go to the polls and this time around neither comrade-mania, struggle-speak or the accompanied baloney will wash. The resulting coalition government will ensure that never again will this country be held ransom by an entity whose executive defecates on the electorate regularly and with reckless abandon.

During the push for multi-partyism in the late 20th and early 21st centuries, voters cast off parties such as the ANC en masse. Malawi, Zambia and Kenya are perfect references were so-called ‘comrade’ ruling parties were humiliated at the polls and reduced third tier minorities in their respective legislatures.

Since the deluded ANC is under the illusion that it will remain in power until Jesus returns, let them be advised that Jesus will return in 2012. Ask Kenneth Kaunda or Daniel arap Moi. Unfortunately, Hastings Kamuzu Banda went to see Jesus long ago probably before Julius Malema started his struggle with t-squares, hammers and nails in the woodwork workshop.

So Jacob, you may have a point when you asserted that; "I do not have to muzzle Julius Malema..." since it was we, the voters who handed you the mandate to lead, by the way.

Mark my words, the electorate will not only plug mister Julius Malema' gob but also toss you, Jacob (and the eat-all-you-can buffet brigade) to the garbage heap of failed administrations. Well, should those within the ANC not beat us to it. Neh?

My name is Edward.
Have a good day.
